Who we are

Founders

Convergent's founders pioneered the use of advanced survey methods and data modelling across some of the highest-stakes decisions in British politics. We started the company to put those same methods within reach of a far wider market, and develop new ones.

Fintan Smith

Fintan Smith

Co-Founder

Fintan managed research for the Labour Party through the 2024 general election and worked for two years directly with No.10 and government departments on advanced survey methods and statistical modelling. He previously set up and managed polling tech stacks, methodology and modelling for two leading think tanks. He has three years of experience in the private sector, working with businesses, academics, the civil service and political campaigns of all stripes at YouGov.

Dylan Spielman

Dylan Spielman

Co-Founder

Dylan led Labour's data science team through the 2024 general election, delivering one of the most advanced voter targeting operations ever. He has pioneered cutting-edge approaches to small geography modelling. Across multiple election cycles, and then directly with No.10, Dylan has applied advanced survey methods and statistical modelling to inform the highest-stakes decisions in British politics.

Our story

We both started by working at leading traditional polling agencies.

We then built the Labour Party's in-house polling and data science capabilities — and helped deliver the UK's biggest election victory of the 21st century, with more accurate predictions than any public pollster.

We've since run polling for the top of the UK Government and No.10.

Now we're using what we've learnt to build the next generation of polling at Convergent.
